Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme ... its Band festival time! Okay, so what exactly IS a band festival? What happens at a band festival? Lets look at a few questions about the Powerhouse Band Festival taking place from Aug 14th - 16th.
What IS a band festival? Its a gathering of people who come together to worship God,
through music,
through sharing stories of God's faithfulness in their lives,
through spending time with His creation,
through spending time with other people who have the image on God stamped on them (yeah you're included too! :-) ).
When do we leave? We plan to start the festival on Thursday night at 8 p.m. Registration will take place from 5 - 7 p.m.
How do we travel? For those of you needing transport, we will be arranging a bus / van depending on how many people need transport. Otherwise, you can travel on your own to Yelagiri - you will find more info on it here.
So what will we do for 2 days? Big question, and of course, we don't want to take away all the suspense - so here's a few things that are planned :
- some different bands will play different kinds of music :-)
- outdoor activities (if you look at the earlier post, you can see pictures of the YMCA grounds - there is tons of space there)
- Around the Bonfire stories / activities / songs
- short sessions on different topics
- A treasure trail
- and much much more ....!
When does it end?We finish the festival on Saturday afternoon and should be back in town on Saturday evening/night.

The hills are alive with the sound of music …. La la la la …. Wait! Music? What Music? And hills? … Where?
Do you love music? Playing it? Listening to it? Well, have we got some news for you! Enter … The Powerhouse Band Festival! Starting on the 14th of August, come join us for THREE DAYS of music in the beautiful and inviting hills of Yelagiri.
Start your day off with some sweet ACOUSTIC, devotional music. Having warmed up with that, check out the RAPpers and HIP-HOPpers, raise your hands in heartfelt WORSHIP, then
embrace the evening with a classic ROCK concert with Chennai’s finest Rock band. And to top it all off, finish the day with an after-dark smooth JAZZ concert.There will also be some workshops, discussions and games based on different topics such as Served to serve etc. Look out for the Treasure Trail, set in the rustic natural landscape of Yelagiri.
And any guesses as to how much this will cost you? No…? Well, this will cost you ONLY Rs.500/- for the WHOLE weekend! What’s more? There’s an early bird offer – you get a POWER HOUSE BAND FESTIVAL T-shirt free if you register before the end of June. So… what are you waiting for? Come on!

Travel
You may arrange your own transportation, or we can arrange it for you. However, this cost is not included in the Rs.500. The travel may cost around 200 or 250 per person.
